„I am extremely proud to have represented Vysoká škola báňská – Technická univerzita Ostrava at the press conference announcing Major Aleš Svoboda’s mission to the ISS. I had the honor of joining Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, Minister of Education Mikulas Bek, representatives from the Ministerstvo školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy (MŠMT), Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation Marek Ženíšek, and Czech astronaut Aleš Svoboda at the Hvězdárna a planetárium Brno, where we had an in-depth discussion about this significant mission.

When Julie Dobrovolná and I founded https://www.caerpin.cz, there were many skeptics about the possibility of a second Czech astronaut. At CAERPIN (Czech Aerospace Research Institute), we’ve managed to bring together people passionate about space research. In my view, we’ve successfully united top Czech universities to work toward a common goal: Vysoká škola báňská – Technická univerzita Ostrava, Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Mendelova univerzita v Brně, Masarykova univerzita Brno, Univerzita obrany, České vysoké učení technické v Praze, and Charles University (Univerzita Karlova). It’s all about the people, and I’m grateful to collaborate on space activities with Julie Dobrovolná, Martin Pumera, Vratislav Saleny, Patrik Kutilek, Martin Vlach, Dalibor Huska, and many more.

It’s fantastic to see how the Ministerstvo dopravy ČR approaches this significant project. I’m excited to soon welcome Minister Martin Kupka to Vysoká škola báňská – Technická univerzita Ostrava – Technical University of Ostrava, where we’ll showcase not only our space research activities but also other projects like our mobility lab Nanorobots, Smart Factory , AIM.Lab, and much more…” said Radek Martinek, University Coordinator for Space Research, Vice Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of VŠB-TUO and member of the CAERPIN (Czech Aerospace Research Institute) consortium.
