SPACE DAY at VSB-TUO

Technical University of Ostrava hosted a unique event SPACE DAY at the Planetarium Ostrava. The main purpose of the meeting of members of the CAERPIN (Czech Aerospace Research Institute) consortium is to join forces of Czech scientists and space research experts to prepare research plans and strategies for the potential mission of the Czech astronaut, Major Ales Svoboda, to the International Space Station ISS.

SPACE DAY was officially opened by the Rector of the University, Prof. Václav Snášel, together with the University’s Space Research Coordinator, Prof. Radek Martink. This was followed by a lecture by Major Aleš Svoboda, who shared his views and experiences regarding the opportunities and challenges associated with space missions and their impact on Czech science. There was also a presentation of the consortium’s research teams and their plan for Major Ales Svoboda’s mission.

Prof. Jan Platoš, Dean of the FEI, welcomed everyone to CPIT-TL3, where a tour of the laboratories and presentations of current projects in the field of Industry 4.0, biomedical engineering and autonomous systems took place. An important point on the agenda was a roundtable meeting of representatives of the CAERPIN consortium (University of Science and Technology, Masaryk University, VUT, CTU and Defence University) to discuss future activities and directions in the field of space exploration, as well as to set short and long-term goals for the CAERPIN consortium.
