RFI for ISS and workshop 1. 2. 2024

27. 02. 2024

On February 1, 2024, a workshop was held at the Ministry premises, where the technical capabilities of the International Space Station (ISS) for conducting experiments were presented in two sections. The workshop, initiated by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, aimed to map the interest of the Czech academic, industrial, and other public in Czech activities on the ISS and similar platforms.

During the morning, possibilities for physical sciences and life sciences were discussed, while the afternoon session focused specifically on medicine, human physiology, psychology, etc. Professor Pumera, a well-known expert in scientific research and technology, also attended this significant event, bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to the discussion.

The information gathered from the workshop will be used as a basis for further assessment at the level of state administration and, if relevant, also for evaluating the benefits of activities conducted before, during, and after a potential flight of a Czech astronaut.

In the event that the outcome of the assessment leads to a decision on the implementation of a flight, it is anticipated that an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) will be issued, inviting detailed proposals. Responding to this RFI is not a prerequisite for participating in the AO but is useful for the evaluative and decision-making process of state administration.
